J.C. Snow
is a queer author (she/her)
whose fantasy worlds are inspired by diverse historical and cultural settings, and whose stories always center queer characters. Current projects include short stories set in different worlds, a gothic novella, two new novels in the Crane Moon World, and a dark sapphic fantasy novel where an ambitious magician and a captive witch must work together to uncover the roots of the magic that rules their lives.
She is also an academic scholar of religion, holding a doctorate from Columbia University, and has published extensively on religion and race in American history. She lives with her amazing partner and child in the Bay Area. When not writing, she is mostly wishing she could be writing, or wandering around unsupervised at night listening to Spotify character playlists.
For more on her fantasy writing and reading life, check out her newsletter The Snowglobe. She also has a second newsletter on her academic work, Occasional Notes on All the Things. You can find them both on Substack, where she does not talk about herself in the third person.
